Tracy Retirement Income Planning

We help you turn your savings into dependable monthly income, using annuities and permanent life insurance where they make sense. Once your plan is running, we review it with you every year so it keeps up with your life.

Income That Arrives Whether Markets Cooperate or Not

Building a nest egg and drawing a living from it ask very different things of your money. During your working years, a paycheck handles the bills and your accounts have time to recover from a rough stretch. Once that paycheck ends, a steep market decline early in retirement can permanently lower what your savings are able to support. Retirement income planning puts a floor of steady income beneath your spending.

Our role is the insurance side of that floor. We look at products such as fixed and fixed indexed annuities, income riders and the cash value in a permanent policy, and we show you plainly where each one helps and where it does not. Some clients need only a small piece of guaranteed income. Others want most of their essential bills covered. We do not push anyone toward putting everything into one product.

A plan is only as good as its upkeep. Rates change, beneficiaries change, and health and spending shift over time, so we schedule a review once the plan starts and keep meeting with you every year.

What Your Plan Includes

A worksheet that shows your income gap

We set your expected Social Security, any pension and other income next to what you really spend each month. Whatever is left over is the gap your savings have to cover.

Annuity choices compared side by side

When an annuity fits, we compare contract types, surrender periods, rider fees and how the income is figured. You get the trade-offs in writing before you decide.

A review of the life policies you already own

Older whole life or universal life policies may hold cash value that can help fund retirement income. We look at what you have before recommending anything new.

Checking beneficiaries and ownership

We make sure each contract and policy names the right people and that those names reflect what you want today. Out-of-date beneficiary forms are among the most frequent problems we see.

Working with your other advisors

We are happy to send our recommendations to your tax preparer or estate attorney so everything lines up. We do not offer tax or legal advice.

Planned follow-up reviews

When your plan starts, we schedule a first check-in, then a review every year. Each one looks at how your income is coming in, what has changed in your life and whether anything should be adjusted.

Signs It Is Time to Plan Your Retirement Income

  • Retirement is five to ten years away

This window gives you the most choices. Annuity income deferred for several years usually pays more, and there is time to compare options calmly.

  • You are unsure how to take withdrawals

Many people have saved well but have no plan for how much to pull each year or from which account. Guessing can drain savings faster than expected.

  • A market drop kept you up at night

If a down year made you question your retirement date, a portion of guaranteed income can take some of that weight off your other savings.

  • Your pension or employer plan is changing

A lump-sum offer, a rollover decision or a job change near retirement all deserve a careful look before you sign.

  • You have a policy you have not reviewed in years

Permanent life insurance bought long ago may have grown cash value or may be underfunded. Either way, it belongs in the conversation.

How We Work With You

  1. 1

    A first conversation by phone

We start with a call about your timeline, your monthly spending and what worries you most. There is no paperwork at this stage.

  2. 2

    Gathering your numbers

We review statements for savings, existing annuities and life policies, along with your Social Security estimate. We meet with you at your business or wherever works best.

  3. 3

    Options in writing

We present two or three approaches with the income each would produce, the guarantees behind it and the restrictions, such as surrender charges. You take time to decide.

  4. 4

    Putting the plan in place

Once you choose, we handle the applications and track them with the insurance carrier until the contract is issued. We walk you through the documents when they arrive.

  5. 5

    Checking back once it starts

We call when your first income payments arrive to confirm everything is coming through as expected. From then on, we meet once a year and explain how to keep the plan healthy, including when to update beneficiaries.

What Shapes the Cost and the Income

Our planning conversations come with no charge to you. Insurance agents are typically paid by the carrier when a contract is issued, and we explain how that works so nothing is hidden. What you actually pay, and what you receive, depends on the product and the choices below.

Your age when income starts
Starting income later generally means a larger monthly amount, because the carrier expects to pay for fewer years.
Optional riders
Income riders, inflation adjustments and enhanced death benefits each carry an annual fee. We show the cost of every rider so you can weigh whether it earns its place.
Single or joint income
Income that continues for a spouse when the first spouse dies pays a smaller monthly amount than income on one life.
Surrender period length
Longer surrender periods often come with better rates but limit access to your money. We match the length to how much flexibility you need.
Interest rates at purchase
Fixed annuity payouts are set largely by rates when the contract is issued, which is one reason timing matters.

Retirement Income Planning Questions

Something not covered here? (209) 353-9918

Must all my savings go into an annuity?

No. Most clients place only a portion of their savings in an annuity, typically enough to pay essential bills. The rest stays invested or in cash so it is available for flexibility and surprises.

If I die early, what happens to my annuity?

It depends on how the contract is arranged. Many annuities pass any remaining value to your beneficiary, and some promise payments for a fixed number of years. We go over these options before you sign.

Could my current life insurance support my retirement?

In some cases. Cash value in whole life and universal life policies can be borrowed or partly withdrawn. We look at the policy closely first, since taking money out can lower what your beneficiary gets.

What do you look at in the yearly reviews?

We make sure your income is coming in, ask about changes in your health, spending or family, and check your beneficiary designations. When a contract reaches the end of its surrender period, we talk about whether to leave it as it is.

Can you work with me if I live outside Tracy?

Yes. We serve clients in Tracy and nearby towns like Mountain House, Lathrop and Manteca, and much of the work can be done by phone.
